How To: Twist & Knot

A simple and sophisticated style.

Whether you have an important meeting at the office, a special event, or you're just hanging out with the girls, braids and knots offer the perfect blend of sophistication and femininity. One of our favorite braided looks is the Twist & Knot-which marries a chic low ponytail with beautiful braids. To learn how to style the Twist & Knot at home simply follow the steps below!

Get the Look

1. The first step in styling this delicate look is prepping the hair with a texturizing spray to give it a very laidback vibe. Reach for a spray like L'Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Beach Waves-a texturizing salt water spray that provides a sexy, tousled effect with a matte finish-and spray throughout damp strands and diffuse to dry.

2. Once your hair is dry and your texture is on point, take small sections on both sides of your desired part and create three-strand braids on either side from the crown to the nape of the neck. Leave the ends of each braid loose and gather all of your hair at the nape of your neck and secure with an elastic.

3. Using a subsection of hair from the secured low ponytail, wrap the hair around the elastic to disguise the band and further polish the overall look. To set, spray a hairspray like L'Oréal Professionnel's Infinium 3 and for added texture L'Oréal Professionnel's Fresh Dust directly into the ponytail.
