Athleisure Trend: The Braided Hairstyle You'll Want to Workout In

So easy you won't even break a sweat.

Forget bouncy ponytails and buns that keep falling out of place while you break a sweat. There's a new trending hairstyle out there that lends itself perfectly to your next killer workout sesh. Curious to know what it is? Read on to find out!

When it comes to your hair during a workout, the challenge remains the same: how do you style your strands in a way that keeps them comfortably out of your face while you go full force on the elliptical-and still maintain a chic, feminine finish? Well ladies, we've got the answer for you and it comes in the form of boxer braids! This style is a triple threat of femininity, urban attitude, and practicality.

Get the Look

If you're squeezing in a workout before/after work, chances are you don't want to spend a ton of time on a complicated hairstyle. After all, there's exercising to be done! You'll be happy to know that this boxer braid look can be achieved without breaking a sweat (save that for the treadmill). Here's how it's done:

Step 1: Using a comb, create a clean center part.

Step 2: Separate the front section of one side of your hair into three pieces.

Step 3: Dutch braid the sections, weaving the pieces under each other-rather than over each other as you would a French braid-and continue to add hair as you braid.

Step 4: Once you reach the nape of your neck, braid the hair normally all the way down and secure it in place with a small elastic. The trick is to maintain the tightness of the braid all the way down as this can help prevent flyaways and provide a more uniform finish.

Step 5: Repeat the same steps on the other side and voila-you're done!

Not a huge fan of working out? Don't fret! You don't have to hit the gym in order to pull off these braids!
