Anyone with an eye on fashion will tell you, from chunky platform heels to choker necklaces, the 90's are back...and in a big way. If you're not big on the fashion of yesteryear, why not have fun with the trend by trying out a 90s-inspired style on your hair? If you have big plans this summer-read: weddings, parties, or other events-try one of the hairstyles below.
A Modern Take on Crimped Hair
Dust off your crimper because this look is bound to be on rotation this summer. Instead of going crimper crazy, take a 2-inch section of hair-away from the face-and crimp all the way down the length from the root. Next, smooth back your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. That unexpected pop of texture is enough to elevate and otherwise simple style. Spray with a light-hold hairspray to keep everything in place.
An Intricate Braided Up-Do
Keep your hair off your neck with this anything-but-boring style. Combining small braids with a high bun, this look is perfect when paired with dresses with high necklines. To style, French braid small sections of your hair back and secure your hair in a high ponytail. Braid small and large sections of the ponytail-in classic three-strand braids and in fishtails-and secure each with a small, clear elastic. Finally, wrap all the braids around the base of the ponytail into a high bun and spray with a strong-hold hair spray.
Low Bun with a Middle Part
This look is perfect for low maintenance girls with straight hair. Start by smoothing some hair oil through dry hair to keep the look smooth and frizz-free. Then, part your hair in the center, brush back, and tie in a low messy bun at the nape of your neck. Take out two small face-framing sections on either side of your part and spray everything with a light-hold hair spray.
