New Year's Eve-worthy styles!
Getting ready for New Years parties? Read this! A fabulous party-worthy hairstyle is never complete without a shiny accessory. We spotted three ultra-stylish accessories on the runway that are bound to be the cherry on top of your holiday style!
A Thin Metallic Barrette
If you thought barrettes were reserved for the grade school crowd, think again! A longer, thin slide barrette is the perfect way to add something special to your hair during party season, especially when you're wearing it all down. To style at home, first distribute a volumizing mousse throughout damp hair and then blow-dry straight with a natural-bristle round brush for added shine. Use a dime-size amount of hair oil to help smooth away any frizz or flyaways and then secure your slide barrette in the center of the back of your head just below the crown. While the look above is just decorative, you can also opt to use the barrette to pull back some of the hair at either side of your part and secure it in a half-up style.
A Bold Graphic Headband
Another accessory that's made its way off the playground and into our current hairstyle rotation is the headband. While you can reach for glittery bands, we love the bold graphic look above! To style, distribute a small amount of a smoothing gel-cream through damp strands and blow-dry straight with a paddle brush. Next, go over any unruly sections with a flat iron for a truly sleek look. Finally, slick your hair back so there's no part and place your headband front and center!
A Jeweled Clip
Nothing says New Years quite like sparkle and this style has it in spades. Using a jeweled clip helps to take your everyday ponytail up a notch into party-worthy territory-who said ponytails were only for the gym? To mimic the look above, start with clean, straight hair and brush up into a high ponytail at the crown, making sure there are no bumps. Next, secure your ponytail with an elastic and then take a small piece from the length and wrap it around the elastic to hide it-use a bobby pin to keep it in place. Last, reach for the length and using your jeweled clip secure it to the side.
